Who Can Vote:

Anyone who meets all of the requirements below can vote:

  • Canadian citizen
  • At least 18 years old
  • Are a resident in the City of Kingston
  • Are a non-resident of the City of Kingston, but you or your spouse own or rent property in the City
  • You are not prohibited from voting under any law



How to Register:

Verify that you are on the voters list (https://ovs.voterview.ca/voterlist/home/1011 ), and if not, you will be able to register for the voting list. If you are on the Voters' List you will receive your Voter Information Notice (VIN) a few weeks before Voting Day. Your VIN provides the location of your voting place and your unique Voter Identification Number that allows you to register and receive a PIN number in order to access internet voting. For in person voting, simply bring your Voter Information Notice and appropriate ID to your voting place and you will be issued your ballot.

Voting Process:

Online Voting - October 5th-24th:

Online voting is open and will be available until 8:00 p.m. on Voting Day, Monday, Oct. 24, 2022. You must register for online voting by 5:00 p.m. on Voting Day in order to vote online. Your Voter Information Notice will contain your unique Voter Identification Number and instructions on how to obtain a PIN number to access online voting. Your unique Voter Identification Number (VIN) will allow you to access the online registration portal. In order to register for online voting, it is the same procedure as registering for voting normally.



Advanced Voting - October 18th-22nd:

Electors can cast a ballot at one of six voting places throughout Kingston on Advance Voting Days, regardless of which district in which they live. The time in which these poling locations run vary by day.



Advanced Voting Locations:

  • Central Library – 130 Johnson Street
  • INVISTA Centre – 1350 Gardiners Road
  • Isabel Turner Library – 935 Gardiners Road
  • Kingston East Community Centre – 779 Highway 15
  • Portsmouth Olympic Harbour – 53 Yonge Street
  • Rideau Heights Community Centre – 85 MacCauley Street


Advanced Voting Dates & Times:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 18 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 19 – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 20 – 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 21 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Oct. 22 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.




Voting Day - Monday, Oct. 24:

Electors can cast one ballot at a voting place in their respective district on Voting Day between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. The voting location for residents of the Trillium district is: Archbishop O’Sullivan Catholic School – 974 Pembridge Crescent


Institutional Voting Locations in Trillium District:

    If you are a resident of the following locations:

  • Royale Place Retirement Residence
  • Rosewood Retirement Home
  • Arbour Heights

Voting can take place at these locations. They will have reduced hours of voting (10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.) and be available for building residents only.



Transportation:

Kingston Transit and Kingston Access Bus will be offering free transportation for electors on both Advance Voting Days and Voting Day from one hour before the opening of voting places and one hour after voting places close. Electors using Kingston Transit will need to show their Voter Information Notice on both the ride to and from their voting place. Remember to keep your card after voting.
