As a community, the past few years have been some of the toughest in
our lives and more challenges are emerging every day.
Everybody has concerns that continue to build. Be it the cost of living, the quality of our local
services,
or the stability and infrastructure in our neighbourhoods; there are changes that everyone wants to
see come to fruition.
Thus, a real and difficult discussion must be had about the future of our district and
the city as a whole.
That is why I am running to be your councillor for Trillium District.
I have a deep passion for Kingston because it is my home, and like all of you, I
want the best for my family, friends, and fellow neighbours.
I want to reach out and connect with all of you over the coming weeks so I can
hear what concerns you have, your priorities, and the differences you
want to see for our city.
I hope to be a loud and clear voice for your needs, bringing a unique but fresh perspective to the
council, but it starts with your support in coming together.
The road to solutions and recovery begins when we have the right leadership and work together. I
want to be a part of this journey,
because I am committed to Kingston.
Jimmy Hassan

Kingstons infrastructure has not kept up with our needs. Our roads and parks need attention now more than ever. I will work in cooperation with the council to improve the quality of roads and walkways, increasing their quality and safety. In addition, I strive to ensure our parks are well maintained and not ignored, that we can feel free and safe to use them. Read More >>
To have sustainable growth we must maintain a strong labour market. As a city, we must work with the province to better fund and improve our vocational programs so that our youth and young adults can have the best possible employment opportunities to contribute back to the city. Read More >>
Housing is an important long standing, yet worsening issue for the city. I will
focus housing discussion back on the local level, advocating for policy that
increases accessibility for both renters and buyers. This, while seeking a
sustainable solution, guaranteeing stability for future generations, families,
youth, seniors, and workers.

"I have known Jimmy since 2004. I met him while I was teaching the Co-op Program at the Limestone Education Centre. Jimmy accepted students from the Centre to work at his restaurant, Pizza Pizza, and helped them obtain credits toward their High School Diploma (OSSD). Jimmy was very patient with the students and accepting of their individual needs. I also got to know Jimmy through the New Year Diversity Dinner that he and his wife organized as a way to bring together Kingstonians from a variety of cultural backgrounds. The dinner was a very well attended event during which guests got to know each other and celebrate the diversity that makes up their hometown of Kingston. Jimmy demonstrates a great sense of community and I have no doubt that he would make an excellent contribution to City Council."

And, with him on Kingston City council, the area will have a much-needed new face and voice at the horseshoe; one who will represent the overlooked, the under-valued and marginalized constituents of Trillium District.
